Benefits of Having a Hands-free Liftgate

Sometimes, it’s the little things that make all the difference. A variety of Chevy vehicles have a hands-free liftgate , and we don’t think you’ll be able to go back once you have this convenient and functional feature.

What is a hands-free liftgate?

A hands-free liftgate is a smart feature that allows you to open and close your vehicle’s liftgate with a simple kick of your foot.

How exactly do you open it?

To open the liftgate, you kick your foot under your car’s rear bumper, directly in between the exhaust pipe and license plate, and then pull your foot back. You have to be standing within 3 feet of your vehicle and have your key fob with you in order for the power liftgate to activate. When you want to close the tailgate, simply repeat the motion. You never have to worry about being bumped by the automatic liftgate, as it will pause if it detects something is in its way.

What are the benefits of having a hands-free liftgate?

First off, the hands-free liftgate is adjustable. You can set the liftgate to only open to a certain height, which is particularly useful if you have a limited amount of space while operating it – like a low ceiling in your garage. You can set the liftgate to MAX, which opens the liftgate to its maximum height. You can also set the liftgate to open to 75 percent of its maximum height.

The hands-free liftgate is particularly useful when loading and unloading cargo from your vehicle. When you have your hands full, it’s frustrating to fumble and try to get your keys out or have to open the driver’s door and release the liftgate. With the hands-free liftgate, packing outdoor adventure gear, sports bags and snacks for weekend sports games, and groceries is remarkably easier and more convenient.
