Which Is Right for You: Used or Certified Pre-Owned?
Buying a new car comes with several benefits, but two other options are also rich in benefits and are significantly cheaper. At Bill Hood Chevrolet, you can also purchase used and certified pre-owned models.
Certified Pre-Owned Vehicles
Certified pre-owned (or CPO) vehicles are cars, trucks, or SUVs that have had a previous owner but meet specific criteria. These vary by automaker. For Chevy, that means the vehicle must have been released within the last six model years, must have no more than 75,000 miles on the odometer, must have a clean title and pass a Vehicle History Report, and must undergo our 172-point inspection and reconditioning.
By meeting these qualifications, CPO vehicles come with many of the same assurances as a new car. As such, they are offered with a number of new car benefits, such as two free maintenance visits, a limited warranty, a free vehicle history report, and trials of OnStar Services and SiriusXM Satellite Radio.
Because CPO vehicles are used, they are priced more affordably than new models. But because they meet a lot of criteria to ensure they are practically “like new,” they are priced higher than used vehicles.
Used Vehicles
Used models are most often the most affordable. By purchasing used, you will have a lower down payment and lower monthly payments. You can also access vehicle history reports for used cars and take potential vehicles to a trusted mechanic for an assessment before purchasing. This can provide you some of the same reassurance you get when you purchase a CPO vehicle.
So which is right for you: used or certified pre-owned? It truly depends on your budget and your needs. If now is not a good time to secure financing on a pricier vehicle and you don’t have much for a down payment, consider a used vehicle. But if you are looking for new car perks at a lower price, consider a CPO vehicle.
You can find both of these types of vehicles here at Bill Hood Chevrolet.
